Superior and more malleable than steel, they can be used in conjunction with o-ringed blocks allowing better sealing even on the cylinder head side. Great for overly planed cylinder heads. Increased gasket thickness in R16 applications will lower compression and/or provide clearance between valve pocket and dome of pistons if needed. In U20 applications, it will also lower compression and/or make the upper chain tight. In addition, all factory and aftermarket gaskets can suffer in both applications because the bore area of the gaskets are always made oversized to accomodate oversized pistons.
