Header Notes Before Purchasing

All of OUR newest headers are being made with a 15MM thick top plate flange where it bolts to the side of the cylinder head instead of a 1/2 inch or a 3/8 inch flange with ugly spacers often found on older design headers.
Our headers are consistent with the thickness of the intake manifold thickness and the surface is machine ground on both sides for flatness.The thicker flange also affords greater rigidity and cosmetic cleanliness.


It is suggested that 1600 owners use the short U20 starter or the short gear reduction unit with the headers as there is less clearance between the header pipe and the end of the 1600 starter.

All our starters work with original manifolds and headers.

Stainless braided area of the pipe measures 2 inches O.D. The I.D. of exist port of the pipe is 1 3/4 inches. Overall length is 9 inches. This diameter is slightly smaller than our 2000 version, but has sufficient flow for the 1600.

Our flex pipe, pictured on the blue back round, has a longer flex area to allow motor movement without pulling on the exhaust. The longer area also acts to dampen the exhaust pulse away from the exhaust system that can be hard on welds.


Compare our flex pipe on the blue back round, to other generic (short) flex pipe on the white back round, which is similar to what other vendors are selling (see photo) which has reduced flex length, too rigid with a small diameter inlet.

We first used a flex pipe on our Solex 67 2000 24 years ago and have been happy ever since! Stainless steel construction allows movement of the motor while the exhaust stays rigid and undisturbed

Our flex pipe, pictured on the blue back round, is longer and wider/NOT restrictive unlike the generic, (short) flex pipe pictured which is similar to what other vendors are selling on the white back round.


Our flex pipe diffuses the exhaust pulse that can be hard on welds in the exhaust system

Original Tri-Mil design: 2 California individuals initiated design and contracted Tri-Mil to make this variant for special projects. Unfortunately, Tri Mill could not control the height of #2 & #3 primary tubes

Our product is not only better quality, but is less expensive then the Tri-mil header.

Our header has superior alignment to the exhaust system in the frame. No difficult angles or the flex pipe rubbing against the bell housing.

Some people argue that there is no performance increase and there has been a lot of gas lighting on the Datsun forum, mostly by people who never had access to the product.

Dave Rebello has built many 5 main 1600 stroker motors: 1750cc and 2150cc. He also had a 1 5/8� diameter pipe 1600 header and did a back to back comparison with a stock 1 1/2 inch pipe diameter header.
After dyno tests the 1 5/8 inch pipe header made an increase in power. Since Dave has a flow bench and dynos I am inclined to follow his conclusions. His Dyno sheet is included with the header, shown here, which reflects a smaller size motor. Higher hp power is expected from larger size motors and these dyno output numbers can be obtained directly from Rebello Racing.

Excellent quality much improved fit and form compared to the older, out of production, Tri-Mill header.

Ken Kawabata's, Rebello built 2000, makes 214 BHP at the flywheel and 180 ft lbs of torque.
We of course built this header specifically for Dave & Ken. Now you can enjoy the benefits as well!

Mike Smith, in Oregon, who runs SVRA had stock valves and a stock
1 1/2" diameter tube Tri-mil header performed a dyno test and documented horsepower and torque readings
He then added our over-sized Manley stainless steel valve set and our 1 5/8" diameter tube header and experienced an increase, after the change on the dyno to our product, of 10 ft lbs of torque and 12 more horse at 4,000. It increased the bottom end performance significantly! He also experienced an increase of horsepower overall topping out at 203 bhp at the flywheel

There is most likely a better tuned header in Australia priced at $1200.00 to $1500.00 Australian dollars.((A picture was forwarded to me, black painted header here listed, by a forum member who asked permission from another forum member, mtresillian, who posted it on the forum)).
The question then exactly is what are the advantages of horse power/torque increases that have been documented, ease of fitment on a left hand drive car and consideration of the extra money that will be spent to obtain these advantages? That would be for each individual to decide what is in their budget and to follow up with a purchase accordingly.

Dave Rebello, an expert in engine rebuilding, prefers to run 1 5/8" diameter tube headers on 2000 engines".

Far superior to The AC Industries/Tri Mil version which had interference issues with the Solex manifold just about everywhere and required grinding the manifold for fitment OUCH!
Our all new header fits perfectly. Yes we checked the control sample and it is perfect.

This header does NOT come with any paper gaskets like the stock diameter pipe headers. This is a performance part and we recommend our, heavy duty metal sheathed gaskets. Click link at bottom of page

Datsun Roadster Smog Plug Inserts - Set of 4 AFTER MARKET USA

Datsun Roadster, set of four, smog plug inserts for 68 -70 1600 and 2000 cylinder heads.

These inserts were reverse engineered to screw into the ports in the head where the air injectors were installed as smog equipment. They have the exact thread and contour of the injectors and fill the entire cavity; both the threaded portion and the smooth bore. This completely eliminates that annoying “chirping” sound caused by engine exhaust passing over the tube, which creates a resonant chamber (like a badly played flute).GENERIC ALLEN HEAD SHORT PLUGS WITH NO EXTENSION WILL NOT SOLVE THE CHIRPING ISSUE. SHORT PLUGS ARE $1.00 EACH AT YOUR LOCAL PLUMBING SUPPLY
Once installed, you’ll be amazed at hearing only the smooth hum of the exhaust out the tailpipe. The clucking chicken in your engine will be dead and gone! Does not include clucking chicken. Comes with a full detailed instruction sheet.
NOTE: Another option is not Allen plugs Allen plugs do not have a chamfer to meet the angled machined area at the bottom of the casted hole in the cylinder head nor do they have an extension on the end to close off the smaller id hole where the pipe used to fit. These areas are what cause the chirping noise. Our inserts have these necessary additions. They were designed, blueprinted and manufactured for a specific purpose.
