1st run 50 sets already sold due in again 2/10/22 These isolators are not the Energy Suspension coil spring isolators that were designed for the stock spring set that have a large inner diameter.
We all have stuffed the Energy parts into the comp springs and know how tight they are not allowing the spring to "seat" properly. Simply cutting off the raised ridge that centers the spring on the Energy parts allows the springs to flop around on the metal centering ring...bad move and cheap fix. Leaving out the urethane or rubber all together is another bad move unless you want to show up with noisy springs at the Roadster meet. Well no more of that.
These exclusive parts to Datsunparts, I cut the master myself, are specifically designed for the competition springs made by Mike Young and the our own 2103, 2107, 2116 & the 2113 spring sets which have larger diameter wire and hence forth smaller inside diameter. The raised urethane radius on our part, supported by the metal centering ring at the top of the spring seat center the springs beautifully.
NOTE: Our spring sets 2113, 2116 similar to the Mike Young spring, both come with these o-ring pads at no extra charge.

Upper control arm bump stop. No longer available from Nissan. These do not come with new upper arms. Great when powder coating your arms when doing a ground up as the process of powder coating will burn them out. It's hard to remove the originals without damaging the part. Note: Thin tail after nipple on part( See photo). This is to aid in assembly. Simply thread tail through the hole in the A -arm. Grab tail with a pliers and pull the nipple through the hole. Cut the tail off after assembly. Part looks completely original.

Why trim your old, dried out, hard stock bump stop? Years of rubber hardening no longer allow the bump stop to be "progressive".
These bump stops are .350 shorter than the replica Nissan Comp bumps shown at part number 1890. They provide the extra clearance needed when using a shorter spring. When used with our upper spring seat part# 1289 your bump stop clearance will be around .700 if you are using the 2113 Super comp spring. If using the Mike Young, 2103, 2107, 2116 spring sets the clearance will be around 1.050

Here is our brand new replica spring of the original Datsun, Japanese made, competition spring Made in Japan. NOT the Eibach remake that Nissan had made here in the USA.

Long before the Mike Young & The Super Comp springs were available there was the Datsun Comp spring that Nissan sold for many, many years and most everyone used them. Beloved by many; I forgot how good this spring was till I drove a car with a set during development. I wish I had in my possession a new set years ago I would have made this spring.
A brand new set was provided to us by a 311 participant to be sent out and reverse engineered.
Polite street spring reduced LB rate from original, firm, not stiff like the original, proper clearance to the Nissan comp bump stops and the car sits nearly identical to the Mike Young Spring. Depending on how you drive and the roads you drive on, bump stop clearance should be between .750 to 1 inch.
Based on the ride, and the ride height of this spring, Harlan Katz liked the ride of this spring as much as the Mike Youngs springs.


The original free length was 9.187" to 9.250" with metric coil diameter wire. The only two complaints about the original spring is that it did not lower the car enough so we had the free length changed to 9.0 inches and the rate was too high. Both of these issues were addressed during development.
Reverse engineered here in the USA by top mechanical engineers at Duer Carolina Coil. Note that we are the only vendor that discloses are sources and where they are made.

This May this spring was made at the request of a customer in Japan who is a supplier of Datsun parts to his Japanese customer base. He also supplied the retro sticker to us. We were now given permission to sell the small remaining amount of these springs to our domestic and Australian followers as well.
This 5 to 6 coil design many people still like. Some sell original sets for much as $395.00 a pair.

We spared no expense in requesting that the US manufacture have domestic stock specially machined to the correct metric diameter of the original 14.55mm matching the original Datsun spring coil diameter.

Most other springs today for the roadster are offered and manufactured by use of the cold wound process, but Datsun made these original springs using the hot wound process and through extension we also had these made using the same process. Original equipment springs are manufactured with surface prepared materials so as to remove any potential minor surface defects in the material.
The majority of the aftermarket automotive hot wound springs are manufactured from hot rolled as rolled material direct from the steel mill. This is great material that is manufactured to an ASTM standard. But the standard allows for minor surface defects in the material from the manufacturing process.These competition springs were manufactured with oversized hot rolled material that was then centerless ground down to size. This provides closer bar diameter tolerances and improved surface finish instead of the hot rolled direct from the steel mill.

You won't find a better original replica spring as we are the only ones that put this on the engineering board. Short, low number, one time production was extremely expensive and 16 sets were pre-sold to Japan and arrived there in May 2021 with the special retro sticker supplied by our Japanese customer.

EXPANATION OF PHOTOGRAPHS: Measurements were taken at 90 degrees through the centerline of the wheel. Depending on how and what roads you drive on you may wish to modify the bumps stops for clearance up to 1 inch. Springs were tested using a Larson Flash 36 load tester rated with a 5,000lb cell which cost $90,000. Not tested on a $1,000.00 Summit Nascar cage less spring tester. Wire hardness tested on a US made Newage calibrated Brinell hardness tester 7000.

Rate of this spring is 860 lbs - Length 8.750".

You must shorten your original tall bump stops or buy our short comp bump stops, part number 1890 and shorten them .375 to provide the proper clearance needed between the top of the bump stop to the bottom of the upper control arm. Not shortening the bump stop will cause the bump stop to bottom out creating a harshness in ride. You can also use our part number 2174 urethane spacer under the springs to add more clearance or to adjust the height for street or race use. Free to those who purchase a set of springs, just ask and we will add them into the order.

Using the same vehicle, we completed a extensive, controlled, proper and fair test of this spring as compared with one other manufacturers product currently on the market.Our spring is lowest of them all without question!

3rd PHOTO: and following 2 photos are of a non restored, unmodified, 3rd owner car. We wanted a car that was very original. This car has stock Nissan springs front and rear.

The 2nd set of 3 photos were taken with the Super Comp springs installed. These photos were lifted from the Super Comp Spring test where ride height and drive ability were compared of each spring currently on the market. This comparison test was made with great care and consideration eliminating any variables that would render the test inconclusive or incorrect. Everything from sagging front and rear leaf springs, tire pressure and profile, mileage and spring settling were considered during the test. The original Nissan comp claim of a 1 1/2 drop from stock height is explained in the test as well. The 8 page test with photos and detailed explanation of the stringent testing procedure are provided when you purchase the springs we sell.

Springs were tested using a Larson Flash 36 load tester rated with a 5,000lb cell which cost $90,000. Not tested on a $1,000.00 Summit Nascar cage less spring tester. Wire hardness tested on a US made Newage calibrated Brinell hardness tester 7000.

Designed from original, UNUSED, NEW Nissan 55020-10500 samples, these US made reproductions offer the same ride height, spring rate 158 LBS and performance as the originals. We call this spring 55020-10501.
Cosmetic duplication processes: Each leaf of the assembly was duplicated as close to the original as possible including the spacers between each leaf,at the end of the leafs, and even the assembly brackets have been duplicated. The cups as pictured in the 1st photo are no longer reproduced.

The leaf springs come with the front spring bushings already installed. When comparing pricing, please note that pricing from other vendors of their spring sets reflects springs sold WITHOUT the front bushings installed

Manufacturing processes: Each leaf is made from 5160 American made raw steel. Each leaf is formed on a jig with the correct arc at 1800 degrees. Each leaf is then oil quenched and drawn back through a furnace at 700 degrees. Degrees are approximate. The leafs are then assembled as a unit and painted.NOTE: Un-painted versions can be supplied for you to powder coat. A 5 week lead time is required for un-painted springs. Painted springs are "ON HAND".

Compare this spring to ones being sold for $255.00. Material shortages are not effecting the price of our springs as they are made by engineers at Duer Carolina Coil in South Carolina.
Your car will sit at the same height as the MY / JT spring and has the same rate. I guess you could call this a Mike Young replica spring except our springs come with the spring isolator pads.
Excellent ride, stability and comfort. Perfect height/stiffness compromise. Firm ride, but not harsh.

This spring is not the Super Comp 2113 spring. This spring lowers the car 1.250.

Springs rates were tested on a US made calibrated Larson Flash 36 load tester rated with a 5,000lb cell which cost $90,000. Not tested on a $1,000.00 Summit Nascar cage less spring tester used by those parsimonious vendors working out of their garages. Wire hardness tested on a US made Newage calibrated Brinell hardness tester 7000

EXPANATION OF PHOTOGRAPHS: Measurements were taken at 90 degrees through the centerline of the wheel. Depending on how and what roads you drive on you may wish to modify the bumps stops for clearance up to 1 inch. Tool used to measure the bump stop clearance was positioned upside down, decibel point on the right, for ease of photography. Both are fine springs and are very close to each other in height and bump stop clearance. Nissan short bump stops were used on the test car

Leaf Spring Set AFTERMARKET USA


NOT to be confused with the Nissan Motorsports, NO ARC, 55020-25510 HARD springs that were sold by Nissan Motorsports.

These US made reproductions offer a ride height that will LOWER the car in the back with TWO different spring rates available to choose from. The 1st spring rate is a stock rate of 158LBS . This will give you a nice balanced look when using lowering springs on the front and a comfortable ride in the back with good performance. In other words you will achieve the "Lowered competition look" without having a rougher ride in the back see 1st PHOTO: Our rear springs with a set of Mike Young Front Competition springs. 185/70/14 tires on 14 inch rims. Datsun Front Competition Springs

Here is a fair, non biased evaluation, performed by Duer Carolina coil performed on all the nice competition springs on the market. New, never installed, front springs were given to us by 311 participants.
The evaluation shows very similar rates between many of the springs and identical characteristics between the Mike Young Spring and our 2116 spring set.

Springs rates were tested on a US made calibrated Larson Flash 36 load tester rated with a 5,000lb cell which cost $90,000. Not tested on a $1,000.00 Summit Nascar cage less spring tester used by parsimonious vendors working out of their garages. (Set of 8). These are the insulating pads that reside in between your multi-layered leafs. Enough pads are supplied to do 2 leaf springs. Has raised indexing nub to register to the dimple in the spring. Nub is integral with a thin pad like the original to space the leaf from one another and provide the proper contact area. Correct size for the Roadster dimpling and correct width!
Saves the day when you are having your old springs re-arced or powdered coated and the original pads become lost, damaged, missing in action or just plain junk! Check out the 3rd photo of the original 40 year old parts.

NOTE: The raised ridge, on both sets shown, that fits into the cup of the spring shown is .932 in diameter. Through the years some Nissan springs had this size and some were smaller in diameter around .890. You can reduce the diameter of the pads by using a drum sanding disc made by Dremel around the circumference or remove the ridge completely and fixing in place with epoxy on one side only.

This can be used with our Super Comp springs if you would like a higher ride.
